Khanna police arrests two after 2 kgs opium, 3,200 liters of illicit liquor recovered from vehicle
LUDHIANA: Khanna Police has arrested drug and liquor peddlers after it recovered 2 kilograms opium and 3,200 litres of liquor from their possession in two separate cases.
Giving details, SSP Khanna Amneet Kondal said that police party of Sadar Khanna police station had set up a check post in village Alaud for checking suspicious persons and vehicles. She added that police stopped a person on the basis of suspicion.
Police officials said that on being searched, they recovered consignment of opium from his possession. They added that the accused was identified as Jagmohan, of Dasuya in Hoshiarpur.
Cops said that they are interrogating the accused to dole out as to whom he was going to supply the opium.
Meanwhile, Khanna police booked two liquor peddlers and arrested one of them after it recovered 3,200 litres of illicit liquor from a vehicle. The arrested accused was identified as Gurpreet Singh Gopi of village Miyanpur in Tarn Taran district whereas other accused was Nirmal Singh Nimma of Jama Rai.
Cops said that police party stopped a canter at a check post in the village Mandiala Kalan cut.
They added that when the vehicle was searched, 3,200 liters of illicit liquor was recovered from it.
Police officials said that the accused Gurpreet Singh was arrested by the police, whereas Nirmal Nimma fled from the spot.
