PUNE: A Class XII student on Thursday ended her life by hanging from the ceiling of her house in Dapodi allegedly after failing in the HSC exam.
According to the Bhosari police, the 18-year old was a commerce student of a college in Dapodi.
"Around 2pm, she came home and informed her parents that she had failed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board exams, the results of which were declared on Thursday," an officer said.
"Her father tried to pacify her and also told her that she could reappear for the exam," theofficer added.
The teenager, the officer said, was upset and went to her room on the first floor. "The girl was found hanging by a dupatta from the ceiling by her mother 15 minutes later," the officer said and added that she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
A case of accidental death has been registered in the matter, the police said.
