Ludhiana: The CIA-II of Ludhiana police commissionerate arrested a 28-year-old man, a school dropout, for forging stamps and signatures of councillors, sarpanch and MLAs. Police also seized nine fake stamps and forms with forged signatures from his possession.
The accused, Avtar Singh, 28, of New Sant Vihar, Noorwala road had been involved in such forgery for the past two years. Police said that he doesn't even remember the number of forged documents and identity proofs he made. He also had a cyber cafe in Haibowal area.
A team of additional deputy commissioner of police, Investigation Rupinder Kaur Sra, assistant commissioner of police- Investigation-II Gurpreet Singh and in-charge, CIA-II, inspector Beant Juneja conducted investigations, after which the accused was arrested.
ADCP Sra said that the police received information about the accused Avtar Singh, who ran a cyber cafe in Haibowal area where he “helped” people apply for PAN card, driving license, Aadhaar card etc. The accused also falsely claimed to be an authorised vendor for Aadhaar cards updates.
