NOIDA: Six persons suffered burns after a gas cylinder exploded at a house in Chhalera village on Friday night. The victims were all onlookers or neighbours who had gathered to douse the flames.
Chief fire officer Pradeep Chaubey said one fire engine was dispatched to Sector 44 locality and the fire on the first floor of the building was doused within minutes.
“So far, it seems that the gas pipe had caught fire and the house owner was trying to douse it. Some neighbours had rushed into the building to help the house owner douse the flames when the gas cylinder, too, caught fire and exploded,” he said.
The six men, who were injured, were mostly onlookers and were standing at a distance. Two of the injured suffered 30% burns and are undergoing treatment, the CFO said.
