GURGAON: A 40-year-old e-rickshaw driver died on Monday after allegedly being hit by a speeding car while he was crossing the road near Sector 17/18 T-point on Old Delhi Road. The FIR was registered on Wednesday, a police officer said.
According to the police, the man identified as Satya Pal was hit by a speeding car on Monday while he was crossing the road.
The victim, an e-rickshaw driver, had sustained injuries on his head and was rushed to the Civil Hospital at Sector 10 by a passerby. An FIR in the case was registered against an unknown person after the brother of the deceased filed a written complaint at the Palam Vihar police station on Wednesday.
In his written complaint, Satya Pal's brother Rajesh Kumar said that his brother was hit by a speeding vehicle and fell unconscious after sustaining injuries on his head.
"He was taken to the Sector 10 Civil hospital. From there, he was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital as his condition was critical. He succumbed to his head injuries there. Since the car was being driven at a high speed, the passerby who brought my brother to the hospital could not see the accused," said Rajesh Kumar in the complaint.
Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR against the unknown person under section 279(rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at Palam Vihar police station. "Investigation has been launched and we are retrieving CCTV footage to identify the accused," said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
