Murthys hail work done by Suttur Mutt
Mysuru: Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and his wife, philantrophist Sudha Murty of Infosys Foundation, visited Suttur Mutt and took part in a workshop on Thursday. The couple also interacted with Kannada and English teachers of JSS Educational Institutions. They appreciated the work being done by the mutt in providing quality education to students not only from Karnataka, but also from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and northeastern states, a press release said. Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, astrophysicist Srinivas Kulkarni and Keshavamurthy of Vishwa Hindu Parishad were present on the occasion.
New classrooms
inaugurated
Mysuru: The new classrooms at Deepa School in Roopa Nagar of the city were inaugurated on Wednesday. Ramappa M, president of Deepa Education and Service Trust, Sadashiva Poojari, vice-president, directors Balakrishna and Niveditha Deepak Suvarna, attended the event. School headmistress Geetha H, Deepa PU College principal Praneetha Yermal and Deepa Primary School, Deepa Nagar, headmaster Babu and others were present.
Shivamogga cops raid spa, rescue six girls
Shivamogga: Shivamogga police raided a spa in the city following suspicion on prostitution late on Wednesday night. Cops raided the spa, located at the city centre, and rescued six girls, Shivamogga SP GK Mithun Kumar said on Thursday. According to him, the cops got a tip-off about prostitution and raided the place. A case has been booked at the women’s police station, he stated.

‘PU coaching centres must register’
Mysuru: The department of PU education has made it mandatory for private PU coaching centres to register themselves. In a press release, the deputy director of PU education has stated that unregistered centres will be closed with immediate effect declaring them as illegal. The department has also urged parents to admit their children at only registered coaching centres.
45-day coaching for banking entrance exam
Mysuru: The Karnataka State Open University, Competitive Examination Training Centre, will be conducting a 45-day training programme for candidates appearing for banking entrance examination. Interested candidates can register their names by calling 0821-2515944 between 10am and 4pm. The last date for registration is May 31, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
