Ranchi: Acting on a tip-off, the anti-terrorism squad (ATS), along with the government rail police, seized drugs valued at Rs 1 crore in a raid conducted in the Howrah- Bhopal Express at Barkakana railway station on Thursday.
In a press statement, the ATS said that the drugs comprised heroine, brown sugar and amphetamine powder, which is an alternative to cocaine.
Three persons, including two women, have been arrested in this connection. They are Lal Babu Chaubey of Buxar
Bihar and Meera Choudhary and Pawati Devi of West Bengal.
The ATS said that the accused persons have told the police about big drug peddlers and drug smuggling gangs of Jharkhand and other states. It added that action would be taken based on the leads.
A case has been registered in this connection with the Barkakana rail police under various provisions of NDPS act.
