MYSURU: Mysuru MP Pratap Simha on Thursday asked the state government to implement the five pre-poll guarantees before the end of May.
Speaking to reporters, Simha said that he would wait till June 1 for the state government to implement the five guarantees that were promised to voters in the electoral manifesto of Congress party, failing which a state-wide protest would be launched.
Calling upon people not to pay electric bills for consumption less than 200 units, Simha said that both chief minister Siddaramaiah and DCM DK Shivakumar had promised to provide 200 units of free electricity to every household soon after the first cabinet meeting.
“Congress had not laid any conditions to avail the benefits of free 200 units of electricity or for other four guarantees. Going by the promise they have made, I would request the public not to pay the electricity bills within 200 units and in case the consumption is more than 200 units, the bill should be paid only for the excess units and not the entire bill,” he added.
‘Info readily available’The BJP MP also urged the state government to immediately implement ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme, which promises Rs 3,000 per month to every unemployed graduate and Rs 1,500 per month to every unemployed diploma holder for two years, stating that getting information about graduates and diploma holders was not difficult as it would be readily available with the department of higher education and technical education.
Simha also demanded the state government to provide free bus passes and Rs 2,000 per month to all women, irrespective of their social and economic status.
