At least eighty police officers of Tihar Jail in Delhi have been transferred over the death of gangster Tillu Tajpuria inside the high-security prison. Among the police officers who have been transferred are five deputy superintendents, nine assistant superintendents, eight head wardens and 50 wardens.
Tillu Tajpuria was attacked multiple times inside the Tihar Jail on May 2 by four inmates alleged to be affiliated with the friend-turned-rival gangster Jitender Maan alias Gogi gang. It marked marks the second such incident inside the high-security prison in less than a month.
According to the jail officials, Tillu Tajpuria was lodged on the ground floor of Tihar's high-security ward. He was attacked by four inmates from the rival gang.
At around 6:15 pm, Deepak Teeter, Yogesh alias Tunda, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan used an improvised saw to cut open the iron grill on the first floor of the ward. According to a prison official, the accused were lodged on the first floor of the same ward and they used an iron rod to attack Tillu Tajpuriya.
A CCTV video from Tihar Jail which emerged on social media purportedly showed Tillu Tajpuriya being attacked in front of security personnel. He was also attacked when the police officials were carrying him after he was stabbed.
After Tillu Tajpuria's murder, seven personnel who were on duty when Tillu Tajpuria was murdered were suspended for allegedly standing as mute spectators when the incident happened.
