Left cries foul over leaving out Prez from new Parl bldg opening
Ranchi: Left parties on Thursday demonstrated at the Albert Ekka Chowk to protest the Centre’s decision to not invite President Droupadi Murmu for the inaugural function of new Parliament building in New Delhi on May 28.
CPI ML, CPI, and CPM also demanded the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brajbhushan Singh, who has been accused of molestation by women wrestlers.
The agitators displayed placards with messages like ‘Mahila aur Adivasi Virodhi Modi Sarkar Murdabad’ and ‘Balatkariyon ko Sangrakshan Dena Band Karo’.
CPI ML politburo member Janardhan Prasad alleged that neglecting the President for the inaugural function is an insult to democracy and that the Modi-led government has destroyed the soul of the Constitution. He said the government is anti-Adivasi and Anti-women. He said, “We demand that President should inaugurate the new building as she is the custodian of the constitution. Prime Minister wants to take all credits for the achievement.”
