THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the first incident after the hospital protection amendment ordinance was enacted, a person was arrested for attacking doctors at the medical college on Wednesday night.
The incident took place at the super speciality block of the medical college hospital when the senior residents of the neurosurgery department had come to check the condition of Sudheer, a Balaramapuram native, who was admitted to the ward.
Sudheer was admitted for surgery, and several tests were conducted for surgery. When residents Santosh and Siva Jyoti had come to check the results with the patient, Sudheer started abusing the doctors. Later, he also manhandled Santosh.
Based on the complaint from the doctors, the medical college police arrested him and subjected him to a medical examination. The incident took place around 7.45pm on Wednesday. Police registered a case on the complaint of the doctors. This is the first case after the notification of the Hospital Protection Ordinance.
