Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the inaugural run of Uttarakhand’s first semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express train on May 25 connecting Dehradun with New Delhi. While addressing the gathering during the event, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw appreciated the funds granted for the development of railways under the PM Modi-led Central Government. Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The government used to give 187 crores 10 years ago for the development of Railways in Devbhoomi. Funds are needed to develop the rare area and beautiful hills. As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power in 2014, he issued funds for Devbhoomi. This year he has issued 5,000 crores for the development of Railways in Devbhoomi.”
