BHUBANESWAR: Bringing about a major change in the Class X board examination pattern, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, on Wednesday announced to introduce one board exam like it was during the pre-Covid times instead of two summative exams in a year, from the 2023-24 academic session.
The summative exam system was introduced in 2022 in the wake of the pandemic after the board faced problems in assessing the students based on their previous performances.
"In the wake of Covid situation and serious disruption in classroom studies we were forced to revise the pattern. But we feel there is no need of following the same pattern this year as the Covid situation has improved. We would go back to the old system of examination and evaluation," said BSE president Ramashis Hazra.
