Man slits friend’s throat after scuffle over sweets, held
Ludhiana: A man slit the throat of his friend in inebriated condition in Giaspura on Wednesday evening. The duo had gone to a sweetmeat shop where they had a scuffle over sweets following which the accused picked a knife from the shop and killed his friend. After the murder, the accused purchased new clothes, discarded his old clothes and ran away.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Soni (30), a resident of Giaspura. The police later nabbed the accused Sandeep Sandy, who runs a telecommunication shop on Sua road, Giaspura.
Deputy commissioner of police (rural) Jaskiraanjit Singh Teja said, “Both Soni and Sandy were good friends. On Wednesday, the duo consumed liquor all day. Thereafter, in the evening they went to a sweet shop. There, in drunk condition they indulged in an argument. After the argument, Sandy picked up a knife and slit Soni’s throat.”
“Sandy’s clothes had blood on them. He got new clothes, changed it and ran towards Delhi. The police team nabbed him. The accused was still drunk and was not able to say anything,” Teja added.
