THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state health department has issued a dengue alert in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam in the wake of intermittent rains. Local bodies and district administrations have been asked to take all adequate preventive measures to check the spreading of the disease.
District health administrations have been asked to seek the support of local bodies for source eradication programmes to control the vector population. Cleaning activities and fumigation process will start in the local bodies where the density of the mosquito population has been detected as high.
Of the suspected 3,845 dengue cases, 1,488 cases have been confirmed this year in the state. Among all districts, more suspected cases are being reported in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram. Hence the state health department has urged to take all preventive measures in these two districts.
