Shraddha Walkar murder rerun: Landlord cuts woman's body into six pieces in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: A week after the decapitated head of a woman was found on a footpath on the banks of Musi river in Malakpet, police on Wednesday cracked the murder mystery by arresting a stock investor from his Chaitanyapuri house.
Reminiscent of the November 2022 grisly murder case of chef Aaftab Poonawala who chopped his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar's body into 35 pieces, 48-year-old B Chandra Mohan also disposed of the severed head of the woman near the Musi. He stocked her body parts in a refrigerator in her house after chopping her body into six pieces and regularly used room fresheners in the room to ensure that the stench from the fridge doesn't spread.
Deputy commissioner of police (southeast zone) CH Rupesh said the woman was identified as 55-year-old Yerram Anuradha Reddy, a private financier, who also worked as a nurse in a private hospital. Anuradha was a tenant at Mohan's house in Chaitanyapuri.

the woman was identified as 55-year-old Yerram Anuradha Reddy, a private financier, who also worked as a nurse in a private hospital.

"Since 2018, Mohan had borrowed up to Rs 7 lakh from Anuradha and invested in various stocks but lost a lot of money during the Covid-19 pandemic. He failed to return her loan. In recent times, Anuradha began pressuring Mohan to return her money and that's when he hatched a plot to kill her," Rupesh told reporters.
Mohan was identified as the accused by police after checking CCTV footage between May 10-17, looking into missing persons' list and even posting notices of the deceased across Telangana.

When police searched Anuradha's house, they found her body parts in the fridge. "He not only preserved the body parts in the fridge but also stocked room fresheners and perfume spray bottles to suppress the foul smell emanating from the corpse," police said. A knife, two stone-cutters and cleaning agents like phenyl and dettol were recovered.
On May 15, Mohan went to Anuradha's house and stabbed her with the knife on her chest and stomach. "He read up on Google on how to dispose of the body. He also researched on what tools could be used to cut her body. That's how he got the stone-cutters. It was all pre-planned," police said.

While Aaftab disposed of the body pieces in different locations in and around Delhi during night hours, Mohan was preparing to dispose of each body part one at a time. He first flung the severed head near the Musi river bank on May 17 and coolly walked off. When cops searched the house, they saw the woman's torso - wrapped in a polythene cover - which was kept in a suitcase and ready to be disposed of. Two hands and two legs of the woman were stored in the fridge.
"Neither the neighbours nor Mohan's mother with whom he stayed had a clue of the murder. Mohan was always a step ahead and even used Anuradha's phone to text people to make them believe that she was still alive and staying somewhere," police said.
