Sengol: How independent India's symbol of power was passed on from British to PM Nehru
'Sengol, is going to be placed in a place of prominence in the new Parliament building, which would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on May 28. A historical sceptre from Tamil Nadu, it was handed over to the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru from the British in 1947 as a symbol of power transfer from the British to Indians.
