Karan Johar is returning to the director’s chair after a seven-year hiatus with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the first looks of the rom-com was released today on Johar’s birthday.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani will hit the silver screen on July 28.

Karan Johar, who also completed his 25 years in filmmaking, unveiled the first look of Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh and fans went gaga over them. While Alia turned into a desi girl, Ranveer looked flirtatious as he went shirtless.

Another poster shows Singh’s family in the film that includes Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Anjali Anand, and others. On the other hand, the Bhatt family has Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Choudhury, Churni Ganguly, and Namit Das.

Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani promises a family drama. For the first time, legendary actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi would be under Karan Johar’s direction. In the film, Dharmendra is said to play a romantic role and will be seen courting Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi

While Bachchan is playing Singh’s grandmother, Azmi is portraying the role of Bhatt’s grandmother.

The rom-com has been shot in different locations around Delhi, Moscow, and Mumbai. The film also marks the second collaboration of Bhatt and Singh after Gully Boy in 2019. Written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy, the film was initially scheduled to release on February 10 and was postponed due to a shooting delay.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. Ranveer Singh last appeared in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus which miserably failed at the box office. Bhatt will soon make her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone while Singh will be seen in Shankar Shanmukham’s untitled film.

Shahid Kapoor to star in action thriller for Zee Studios & Roy Kapur Films to be directed by Rosshan Andrrews 

Shahid Kapoor will star in an action thriller to be produced by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films. Rosshan Andrrews, who will direct the as-yet-untitled film, is known for Malayalam blockbusters such as Salute and Kayamkulam Kochunni, and is making his first foray into Hindi films. The project is the first time Zee Sudios and Roy Kapur Films have worked together.

The shooting of the film is scheduled to start in the second half of 2023. The film is about a brilliant yet rebellious police officer who uncovers a web of betrayal and deceit while investigating a high profile case leading him down a thrilling yet dangerous path.

Shahid Kapoor said it was rare to find a subject that had action, thrill, drama and suspense all combined in one story and that he was really looking forward to it. He said that it was a privilege to work with Zee Studios and Sidharth Roy Kapur with whom he had worked in Kaminey and Haider earlier. On Rosshan Andrrews, Kapoor said he was a veteran filmmaker whose Malayalam filmography was spectacular. He said that he had spent many months together with him and it would be a pleasure to work with such a fantastic cinematic mind. He said he could not wait to bring the exhilarating, entertaining and thrilling story to the masses.

Andrrews said he was thrilled to make his Bollywood debut with such a gripping story and work with such an incredible team of professionals. He said the combination of Shahid’s exceptional acting , Sidharth Roy Kapur’s  expertise as a producer and the commitment of Zee Studios to produce ground-breaking content was truly inspiring. Their passion and dedication had been truly instrumental  in bringing the story to life. He further added that as a director he aimed to produce immersive cinematic content that would leave the audience in awe.

Zee Studios CEO Shariq Patel said he had several discussions separately with Sidharth Roy Kapur and Shahid Kapoor over the year on different projects. Somehow those projects did not materialize and it took this film for them to come together.  

Kapoor has been in blockbusters and critically acclaimed films, including Haider (2014), Udta Punjab (2016), Padmavat (2018) and Kabir Singh (2019).He recently made his OTT debut with Farzi.

TV star Vaibhavi Upadhyaya dies in car accident, industry pays condolences

Reports said she was travelling with her fiance when her car slipped into a valley during a turn on the road.

TV actor Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, known for her role in the popular Indian television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away on Monday following a fatal car accident. Reports said she was travelling with her fiance when her car slipped into a valley during a turn on the road.

Producer JD Majethia confirmed the news of her demise and expressed his disbelief, emphasizing the unpredictability of life, ETimes reported.

In a statement, he said, that he was in a state of shock on hearing about Vaibhavi’s sudden demise. He added that life could be so unpredictable, and it was heartbreaking to lose such a vibrant and talented artist like her. He said it was a joy to work with her and she was a wonderful human being.

Majethia further informed that she met with an accident near Chandigarh and the family will be bringing her body to Mumbai where the final rites will take place. On hearing the tragic news her brother rushed to Chandigarh.

Following the news of Upadhyaya’s demise, her co-actors and fans poured condolences on social media. Actor Deven Bhojani, in a tweet, hailed her acting prowess. Anupamaa star and Upadhyaya co-actor Rupali Ganguly also paid condolences on social media.

Vaibhavi Upadhyaya rose to prominence with her portrayal of Jasmine in the hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, which aired from 2004 to 2006. Her impeccable comic timing and portrayal of the character won the hearts of the audience, making her a household name. Her versatile performances and dedication to her craft garnered her a significant fan following.

She had also been a part of films like Chhapaak co-starring Deepika Padukone and the web series Zero KMS opposite Naseeruddin Shah.

In other news, Om Shanti Om actor Nitesh Pandey succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 51 and was last seen in the Star Plus show, Anupamaa as Dheeraj.

Om Shanti Om actor Nitesh Pandey dies of cardiac arrest

Pandey suffered a cardiac arrest at around 2 am at Lagatpuri near Nasik where he was shooting last night, reports said.

Bollywood and TV actor Nitesh Pandey, who worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, passed away on Tuesday. Pandey suffered a cardiac arrest at around 2 am at Lagatpuri near Nasik where he was shooting last night, reports said. He was 51.

Reports further said he breathed last at a hotel and a police team in investigating the matter. His autopsy reports are awaited.

Siddharth Nagar, the actor’s brother-in-law, confirmed the news and said his sister Arpita Pandey is shocked. He also said the actor was a lively person and did not have a history of heart ailments.

The film fraternity paid condolences to the actor. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, on Twitter, called it an unkind time as three young actors passed away in a span of 3-4 days.

Nitesh Pandey was currently seen in Star Plus’ popular show Anupamaa starring Rupali Ganguly. He portrayed the role of Dheeraj in the show.

He started his acting career in 1990 with theatre and bagged his first role in a show, Tejas. He played titular roles in multiple daily soaps on TV including Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Indiawaali Maa, Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka, and Hero-Gayab Mode On.

Apart from his stint in Hindi serials, Pandey also worked in many big-budget films Om Shanti Om, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mickey Virus, Dabangg 2, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Madaari, Hunterrr, Rangoon, Badhaa Do, and Baazi.

Nitesh Pandey is not the only star who the entertainment industry lost today. Vaibhavi Upadhayaya, popular for working in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai as Jasmine, lost her life in a car accident.

Reports said the accident took place in Himachal Pradesh when the vehicle suddenly went out of control at a steep turn. She was travelling in a car with her fiance.
