The pass percentage for Maharashtra State Board’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations saw a significant dip this year as compared to March 2022. The results of the examinations, which were held between February and March, saw the pass percentage go down to 91.25 per cent as against the 94.22 per cent recorded last year.
Sharad Gosavi, chairman of the Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Thursday said that the decline in pass percentage needs to be looked at the changed circumstances under which they were held. This was the first time when the board had conducted the exams with a full syllabus and no extra time, post the Covid pandemic, Gosavi said.
The Konkan division of the board recorded the highest pass percentage (96.01 per cent), while Mumbai division saw the lowest pass percentage (88.23 per cent). Pune division has seen a pass percentage of 93.34, according to a statement issued by the board.
Girls with a pass percentage of 93.73 excelled boys who recorded a pass percentage of 89.14, the board said.
This year a total of 14,28,114 students had registered for the examinations of which 14,16,371 students had appeared for the examinations. Of these 12,92,468 students were declared successful by the board. Students in the Science stream have recorded the highest pass percentage of 96.09.
Gosavi, while addressing the media, said the results would be available on the Board’s website. The physical copies will be available at the junior colleges post-June 5.
