Surat: A resident of Udhna has filed an FIR against her husband and in-laws for alleged violence, abuse and dowry harassment. The complaint was filed at woman’s police station on Wednesday.
According to the complaint by Priya Tiwari, her husband Jitendra Tiwari refused to lawfully adopt her eight-year-old son from her first marriage. Jitendra and his family asked her for Rs 5 lakh dowry and also abandoned her.
Priya got married to Jitendra in a temple in Pal area. Theirs was was a love marriage. Her parents gave her gifts and two tola gold and silver ornaments at the wedding.
Before marriage, Priya had talked to Jitendra regarding the child and Jitendra had agreed to lawfully adopt the child after their marriage. However, after marriage, he refused to adopt the child.
This led to frequent quarrels between them. Priya’s husband, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and father-in-law also mentally tortured her over this issue.
So Priya and Jitendra started living in a rented house. But there too, Priya’s harassment did not stop.
One day, Priya caught her husband chatting with another woman. When she confronted her husband over this, she was beaten by him. Later, she was also abandoned. This made Priya file the FIR.
