Varanasi: For the first time in north India, differently abled artistes from six states will perform dance and cultural activities at ‘Divyakala Shakti’ programme at Rudraksh International Convention Centre here on May 27.
The proposed event is being coordinated by Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) of Ministry of social
justice and empowerment, Government of India. Regarding the event, district magistrate S Rajalingam, on Wednesday, said that the district administration is ensuring all preparations for this event in which many dignitaries will participate.
The DM also convened a meeting with the officials, including chief development officer Himanshu Nagpal. He asked the officials to establish help desks at railway stations and airports to assist the artistes and other persons coming to the city to take part in the event. He asked to deploy nodal officers at each hotel, where arrangements for their stay have been made. He also reviewed the security plan at the hotels, Rudraksh centre and other places concerned.
The CDO directed the chief medical officers to ensure availability of ambulances and health team assistance at Rudraksh. He also directed the chief executive officer of Kashi Vishwanath Dham to ensure availability of wheelchairs in sufficient numbers at KV Dham to facilitate the artistes during their stay in the city.
Nodal officer for the event Ramprakash Singh appealed to the NGOs and other voluntary organisations registered under Rights of Person with Disability Act to take part in the proposed event to encourage the artistes and honour their talent.
