Kanpur: Shweta Verma's aggressive batting helped Kanpur Cricket Association (KCA) girls beat Deoria Cricket Association team by 64 runs and moved into the semi-final of late HN Bahuguna state-level women T-20 cricket tournament held at the GCRG ground Lucknow on Wednesday.
Kanpur girls, batting first, posted 3 for 143 runs in 16 overs. Shweta hit unbeaten 43 runs consisting of 4 boundaries and 2 sixes in 25 balls. Tripti Singh and Babita Yadav contributed 32 and 24 runs respectively. Deoria girls in reply scored 5 for 79 runs in 16 overs and Shivi Yadav scored 33 runs. Siddhi Yadav of Kanpur picked 2 wickets. Kanpur will clash with Varanasi in the semi-final on Thursday. Shweta Verma was later adjudged as player of the match.

JNT league: Arpit Giri's fine century (102) stole the show as his team Anandeshwar XI outplayed Maplewood XI by 80 runs in the JNT U-12 cricket league for Sigma Griplock trophy being played here at the Kanpur South ground.
Arpit who led his team from the front foot helped it to post a big score 6 for 196 runs in 25 overs. In his three-figure innings, Arpit smashed 15 boundaries and a six. Maplewood XI in reply collapsed on 116 runs in 20,4 overs. Krishna Pandey scored 40 runs. New India Assurance, in another match, humbled Kanpur Phoenix Junior by 3 wickets. Phoenix XI, batting first, scored 6 for 101 runs. Advait Mishra hit 33 runs. New India Assurance in response successfully chased the target for the loss of 7 wickets. Tejas Nigam chipped 36 runs.
