BHUBANESWAR: The Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCIL) on Thursday urged chief minister Naveen Patnaik and the chairman, Airport Authority of India (AAI), to consider arranging for everyday direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Guwahati.
“There is a potential of unlocking not only the tourism sector, but also the general industrial sector including that of the IT sector. It virtually opens up the eastern world to the passengers of Odisha and also for people of Odisha and vice versa,” said UCCIL president Brahma Mishra.
Guwahati is the entry point to the seven sisters in the North-East (NE) of India. Assam and the other NE states being potential manufacturing, trading and multiple level business partners, the need for resurgent connectivity is apt and essential in the current scenario, said Mishra in the letter.
“This will also open up and strengthen our cultural bondage with the neighbouring states,” read the UCCIL letter.
