NOIDA: A man from Noida has filed a complaint after his wife's gold and diamond jewellery, worth around Rs 30 lakhs, allegedly went missing from an HDFC bank locker. Police have initiated a probe into the matter on Wednesday..
The complainant, Ratik Singhal, claims that his wife had deposited her gold and diamond jewellery, allegedly worth around Rs 30 lakh, in a locker at the Sector 121 HDFC bank where they also held an account back in 2020, prior to moving to Australia. Singhal says that when they visited the bank on May 22, upon their return to the country, they realised the jewellery was missing.
"We spoke to the bank manager and he gave us a standard reply. We then went to the phase 3 police station and filed a complaint. The workers or officials at the bank might have gotten a duplicate key to open the locker and take the jewellery. My wife last opened the locker just before covid in February 2020," Singhal told TOI.
Police said they have received the complaint on Tuesday and have started an investigation.
"An FIR will be registered based on the findings. We have gotten in touch with bank officials and started investigation," a senior officer said.
TOI attempted to get in touch with bank officials but did not receive a response.
