Inauguration of Annexe, Library can’t be likened to Parliament inauguration: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on May 24 slammed BJP over the new Parliament building row. Replying to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s statement, CM Bhupesh Baghel said that the Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan were built during the British era. “The Parliament was built during the British era. Rashtrapati Bhavan was also built during the British period, so how could Indira Gandhi have inaugurated it?” asked CM Baghel. “If someone inaugurates a portion of a building, then that is a different matter. The new Parliament building should be inaugurated by the President,” he added. Earlier on May 23, Hardeep Singh Puri slammed the Congress over its objection to the opening of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi inaugurated the Parliament Annexe and Library respectively in the past.
