Samsung appears to be testing a new firmware update for the Galaxy S23 series. We’re not referring to the One UI 5.1.1 and/or One UI 6.0 test builds, but one that might roll out to the Galaxy S23 series on the public channels as soon as June.
This update, discovered on Samsung’s test servers (via @tarunvats33), carries firmware version S91xBXXU2AWEB. It’s too early to tell what changes it might bring, but we’re nearing the end of the month, which likely means that Samsung is already preparing a new security patch for its Galaxy S23 flagships.
Samsung is usually the first to release new monthly security patches, beating even Google at its own game most of the time. Given its history, it wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung started rolling out the June 2023 security patch before the end of May.
Test Galaxy S23 firmware update might contain camera improvements
In addition to improved security, this upcoming One UI 5.1 update could also bring camera improvements to the Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy S23 camera suffers from an HDR-related issue, which manifests in certain lighting conditions, resulting in odd contours around objects.
Samsung confirmed earlier this month that it is working on fixing these HDR camera bugs and said the solution “will be included in the next [firmware] version.” The company didn’t reveal an exact release date for this patch, but the message strongly suggests that Samsung will roll it out in June. Especially now that May is almost over and the time for a new monthly release draws near.
Needless to say, this test update, carrying firmware version S91xBXXU2AWEB, could bring these highly-anticipated camera improvements to the Galaxy S23 series.
