RAMGARH: It was an emotional moment for Aslok Bihari Rama, a private security guard and his wife Kusum Devi, a homemaker hailing from Vikas Nagar locality of Ramgarh town as their daughter Divya Kumari topped the state in intermediate science in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) examination results of which were announced on Tuesday.
Divya was studying in Gandhi Memorial +2 High School in Ramgarh town.
Soon after the news broke about her success, several people from neighbouring localities thronged to her house to congratulate her and her parents. A felicitation programme was also organised in the school.
Divya, who celebrated her birthday two days ago, said she used to help her mother in domestic chores and could study only for a few hours but she was confident of doing well. She said she, however, didn't expect to emerge as state topper.
"One doesn't need to be a bookworm but can prepare for the exams in a regular and consistent manner," she said, adding that she didn't take any extra pressure for exams. She said she dreams of being a doctor. Divya passed her Class 10 from Devine Omkar High School in Ramgarh and was a school topper with 93% marks. Divya's father Aslok said, "She has been a brilliant student since childhood."
