BSNL gets govt land in 8 villages for 4G towers
Panaji: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the transfer of government land in eight villages — five in North Goa and three in South Goa — to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for the installation of 4G mobile towers.
The state government proposed between Rs 90 and Rs 150 per square metre for the land tracts depending on the location. The average market price of these locations ranges from Rs 18,000 to Rs 24,000 per square metre.
Five of these locations are in Sattari, one at Surla in Dharbandora, and two in Sanguem taluka. The collectors of North Goa and South Goa had submitted a proposal of BSNL for the transfer of government land in various villages for setting up 4G mobile towers.
“The land proposed to be transferred is in the name of the Government of Goa. The collectors have submitted the survey records and site plans,” a cabinet note said. tnn
“The collectors have recommended the proposals for the transfer of the said lands.”
According to Rule 310(2) of Goa Financial Rules, 2017, the transfer of land from one department of the government (as defined in Rule 309) to another shall be on the “no profit no loss basis”. But that does not necessarily mean a transfer being effected with ‘zero cost’. A transfer can be on the basis of mutually agreeable terms and conditions or in exchange for equal value land or payment of the value of land or the cost of acquisition, a senior officer said.
