Mercury up, Churu singes at 45.7°C
Jaipur: Heatwave conditions were unabated in the state for the sixth consecutive day on Tuesday with majority of the places seeing rise in their maximum and minimum temperatures. Churu remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 45.7°C was recorded, Met reports said.
The Jaipur Met office said that with fresh western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation, Bharatpur, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Hanumangarh, Alwar, Dausa and Karauli districts witnessed dust storm and mild showers in the evening. On Wednesday, places in Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota Jaipur and Jodhpur divisions are likely to get mild showers and dust storm.
People in Jaipur woke up to the hottest morning of the season so far as a minimum temperature of 30.8°C, almost 3.8 degrees above normal, was recorded. It was followed by a scorching afternoon when a maximum temperature of 42.4°C accompanied with a humidity of almost 70% was witnessed.
“Dust storm and rainfall will continue at Ajmer, Jaipur, Kota and Bharatpur divisions till May 27. From May 28, heatwave conditions will further revive in the state,” said a Met officer.
