Vande Bharat now from platform 8
Nagpur: In a big relief for passengers of Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express, the train has started operating from platform number 8 (home platform) on the east side of the railway station.
The South East Central Railway’s zonal railway users consultative committee (ZRUCC) member Vijay Dhawale said, “Earlier, the train used to leave from platform number 7. This caused huge inconvenience to the passengers of this premium train as there are no basic amenities and catering services on this platform.”
“The decision to change the platform was taken by the railway administration after a delegation, led by former MP Dr Vikas Mahatme, called on railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on May 16. The minister promised to do the needful and the very next day the train started operating from the home platform, i.e. number 8,” said Dhawale.
“Operating a premium train like Vande Bharat from platform number 7 was illogical as passengers had to cross the foot-over-bridge with luggage to reach the platform. The change will benefit the passengers as car-to-coach facility is also available on platform number 8,” said Dhawale.
