Koraput: Two engineering and one MBA students from Telangana were arrested on charges of smuggling ganja from Nandapur police station limits in Koraput district on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Chamakuri Devendra Gouda, Rinkapallu Santosh and Varun Teja, all residents of places under Palvancha police station limits in Telangana.
“We were tipped-off about the consignment and accordingly the four-wheeler used for smuggling the contraband was intercepted near the inspection bungalow chhack under Nandapur police station limits,” said SDPO (Nandapur) Sanjay Mahapatra.
While frisking the vehicle, 21.4 kg of ganja was found and the vehicle has been seized, he added. According to the officer, the banned drug was procured from Machkund and was smuggled to Hyderabad. “The high profit in the illegal ganja trade lures college students into the trade. The accused will be produced in court,” said Mahapatra.
