Actress Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, best known for playing Jasmine in the immensely popular 2000s sitcom ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, has lost her life in a car accident.
According to an ETimes report, the incident took place in Banjar, Himachal Pradesh. The actress was travelling in a car with an unidentified male when the vehicle suddenly went out of control at a steep turn and fell into a gorge. Her companion survived but she breathed her last.
The news was shared by 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' producer JD Matheja through an emotional Instagram post. “Life is so unpredictable. A very fine actress, dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyay, popularly known as 'Jasmine' of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away. She met with an accident in the north. The family will bring her to Mumbai tomorrow morning around 11 am for the last rites. RIP Vaibhavi (sic)," reads the post. In an interview with a leading English daily, the producer reminisced about the late actress. Describing her as "a very dear friend and a terrific actress" he said that she was a promising artist who did not get her due in the industry.

Several of her peers in the industry also mourned her untimely passing. Rupali Ganguly (of 'Anupamaa' fame) took to Instagram to pay a tribute to her 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' co-star. Sharing a picture of the actress on her Instagram Story, she wrote, "Gone too soon Vaibhavi!"
Actor Deven Bhojani also paid a tribute to the actress on Twitter.

Upadhyaya's mortal remains will be brought to Mumbai on May 25. Her last rites will take place thereafter.
Upadhyaya was a known face both on the small screen as well as the Gujarati theatre circles. Apart from 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai', she also starred in cult sitcoms such as 'CID' 'Adaalat', 'Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka' etc. She also featured in the 2020 Deepika Padukone-starrer 'Chhapaak' and the web series, ' Please Find Attached'.

Investment firm GQG Partners is in talks for an additional investment of around $1 billion in Adani Group shares, having reaped bumper returns on the close to $2 billion it ploughed into the conglomerate’s stocks in March, said people with knowledge of the matter.
