7 dead as cruiser vehicle falls into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar

JAMMU: At least 7 people were killed and two others injured after a cruiser vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Dangduru Dam site in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar on Wednesday.
According to sources, "A cruiser vehicle ferrying workers of Dangduru Power Project met with an accident near the site of the Dachan area resulting in the loss of six lives."

"Rescue operations are under way," sources said.
They said, "One of the critically injured succumbed on the way to hospital and the other two are being shifted to GMC Kishtwar."
"The identification of deceased yet has to be ascertained," sources added.
Confirming the seven casualties, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kishtwar Khalil Poswal said, "An unfortunate road accident of a cruiser vehicle occurred near site of Dangduru Power Project (Dachan area), which was ferrying workers of project after their shift was changed."
"Seven people were killed while efforts are on to shift two injured to Kishtwar for specialised treatment," SSP Kishtwar said.

Meanwhile union minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, "Spoke to DC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav about the unfortunate road accident at Dangduru Dam site.
"Seven people dead and 1 critically injured. Injured are being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar or GMC Doda as per requirement. All possible help, as required, will be provided," Union minister Dr Singh tweeted.
