Reliance Jiomart has reportedly laid off employees. The move comes after the company acquired Metro Cash and Carry. While the exact number of affected employees is not known, a report published by the Economic Times says that more than 1000 employees have been affected by the decision.

While it is a common practice to streamline operations and augment manpower resources between the two entities after a buyout, Reliance is also looking to disrupt the B2B retail space with aggressive pricing. This entails cost-cutting measures and efficient management of resources for Reliance JioMart.
