Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is awaiting the release of her aspirational film 'Emergency', visited the Kedarnath temple in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday amid tight security.
The 36-year-old was accompanied by MLA Umesh Kumar and 'Emergency' writer Vijayendra Prasad, who also penned Telugu blockbusters like 'RRR' and 'Baahubali'. She offered prayers with the priests of the temple and Kailashanand Maharaj.
On Instagram, Ranaut shared a short video of her helicopter ride to the temple along with pictures from the visit. In the video, she could be seen greeting her fans from the helicopter, saying "Har Har Mahadev."
She also took to Twitter to share pictures from her temple run. In her post, she said that she was fortunate to visit the pilgrimage where the divine power of Lord Shiva resides.
For the temple visit, the actress opted for a traditional blue outfit with sturdy boots and a dusty-rose pink bomber jacket to beat the chilly mountain breeze. She also wore a chunky pink flower garland and had holy paste smeared on her forehead.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also visited Kedarnath. Situated on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river, Kedarnath temple is said to have one of the twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
On the work front, 'Emergency' marks Ranaut's first solo directorial film, which revolves around the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It features the actress in the titular role of the late politician. Apart from Ranaut, the film stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles.
The 'Fashion' star will also be seen in 'Tejas' in which she will be seen portraying the role of an Indian airforce pilot. The official release date of the film is still awaited.
Ranaut will be seen headlining 'Chandramukhi 2', helmed by P Vasu. It is the sequel to the blockbuster hit Tamil horror comedy 'Chandramukhi' which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika in the lead roles. In the sequel, the actress will portray the role of a dancer in the king's court, who was known for her beauty and dance skills.
In the coming months, the audience will also see Ranaut in 'Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda' and 'The Incarnation: Sita'.
