Two minors, sexually abused by their mother’s lover, rescued
Police lodged an FIR under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act and apprehended the accused.
LUCKNOW: Two minor siblings who, for months, had allegedly been sexually abused by their mother’s lover were rescued by a team of ChildLine on Tuesday morning from Azaad Nagar area of Krishna Nagar police limits in Lucknow.
Based on the written complaint of ChildLine, police lodged an FIR under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act and apprehended the accused, identified as Om Prakash Gupta (35), who by profession is an electrician.
Speaking to TOI, ChildLine coordinator Vivek Sharma said, “The most unbelievable part of the rescue operation was that girls were being abused in front of their mother by her paramour and she did nothing concrete to prevent it. Separated from her husband for the last four to five years for reasons yet not known, the woman started living with her paramour last year along with two girls who are students of classes III and IV in a private school.”
“We are yet to not sure, if the victims were ever allowed to speak to their father or any other relative by their mother. It was a tip-off which alerted the ChildLine about the sexual abuse,” he added.
By the time this report was filed, the two minors were undergoing medical examinations at Lohia Hospital in the presence of Krishna Nagar police.
Earlier in the month, another minor girl was rescued after she was being sexually abused by her ‘foster father’ in Bakshi-Ka-Talab area.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.)
