JHANSI: A 26-year-old under trial prisoner, lodged in Jhansi district jail for over three years under murder charges, died on Tuesday after consuming some poisonous substance at the court premises in Jhansi district court when he had gone for hearing.
As per the details,
Rohit Sharma along with ten persons including his parents, were attested and sent to jail on February 1, 2020 for murdering two persons. While nine were out on bail in successive period, Rohit could not secure a bail.
On Tuesday, he had gone to the district court for hearing. Here, he went to meet his lawyer in his chamber on the court campus. As per SP City Gyanendra Singh, Rohit asked for water and after drinking water he fell unconscious. He was immediately rushed to the Jhansi medical college where he was declared dead.
"It is being presumed that Rohit consumed some poisonous substance which led to his death. Investigations are going on and anyone found involved will not be spared," said the SP City.
Meanwhile, Rohit's family members have given an application to the police alleging that the opposition party has deliberately poisoned Rohit to kill him.
As per the details, Rohit, of Murari village under Babina police station, along with nine persons, was in under trial for murder of two persons in some internal dispute.
