Boston Police arrest suspect in Mattapan Star Market stabbing
A person was stabbed inside the Star Market store on River Street in Mattapan Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Families who shop at the grocery store with their children say it’s concerning to have violence in such a public place. “It’s usually just a very quiet place, lots of children lots of families,” says one shopper.
Boston police responded to the stabbing shortly after 3:30 p.m. The victim was rushed to an area hospital and is expected to be okay.
A shopper says she learned from police on the scene that it was workplace violence.
“They just said it was a dispute between employees and I was like ok but yeah I’ve never seen anything like that before here I mean it’s usually just a very quiet place,” one shopper said.
Police say the suspect, Trevor Charlton, 47 years old out of hyde park, was arrested, but they are still trying to figure out what led up to the stabbing.
Star Market officials sent a statement saying, “we work diligently to provide a safe shopping and workplace environment.”
Police say the incident is still under investigation
