Nagpur: Six people, including three women, were killed and another 14 injured after a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus and container truck collided head on near Palaskher Chakka village on Nagpur-Jalna highway in Mehkar taluka in Buldhana district on Tuesday morning. Drivers of the bus and the container truck were among those killed.
Though the exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, police stated that based on preliminary findings, speeding by both the drivers was responsible for the tragedy.
The police have identified the deceased as MSRTC bus driver Raju Kulal (42), Sheshrao Kharabe (65), Gokarna Khillare (55), Vanmala Pawar (30), Seema Joshi (45), all bus passengers. The identity of the deceased container truck driver is yet to be known.
Police said the state transport bus, with 33 passengers on board, was heading to Mehkar from Pune. The container truck was moving in the opposite direction. The front portion of both the vehicles was badly damaged due to the impact of collision.
