Nitish Kumar on Wednesday launched Kharif Mahaabhiyan-2023 by flagging off altogether 36 Prachar Raths (chariots), which will visit different districts to provide information about the state government’s various schemes for Kharif season to the farmers.
The Prachar (propagation) Raths, fitted with modern equipment, were flagged off from a special podium set up outside the chief minister residence at 1, Anney Marg, in Patna.
The CM also released a booklet, which contains different aspects of the Kharif Mahaabhiyan, on this occasion.
“Technical information about the Kharif crops and information about the agriculture department’s schemes for the Kharif season would be provided to the farmers through these chariots,” an agriculture department official who coordinated the flagging off event told media persons.
Besides these, the chariots would also educate the farmers and rural population about the harms caused by burning of crop residues in the farm lands, the benefits of organic farming and climate resilient crops as well as the state government’s scheme –‘Har Khet Tak Sinchai ka Pani’ (Irrigation water up to each farm land), the official said.
At the beginning of the event, the agriculture department’s principal secretary B Rajender welcomed the CM by handing over him a sapling of a tree.
Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, agriculture minister Kumar Sarvjeet, agriculture advisor to the CM Dr Mangala Roy, chief secretary Amir Subhani and director (agriculture) Alok Ranjan Ghosh also were present on the occasion.
