NDC Puts Diamond Standard Coins in Stores

May 24, 23 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) is backing the coins and bars produced by New York-base Diamond Standard as an investable asset.

NDC says it will actively promote Diamond Standard products, showcasing them in jewelry stores through a retailer affiliates' program, and providing publicity material to emphasize the role of diamonds in diversified portfolios.

Diamond Standard launched its first coins in February 2021. Each one contained "a set of certified natural diamonds with identical geological scarcity" weighing 4.5 carats and to the exact value of $5,000.

Diamond bars with a selection of stones from 0.76-cts to 2.05-cts and an initial value of $67,200, were launched a year later.

"This collaboration presents a unique opportunity to educate a wider audience on the inherent value of natural diamonds in an alternative way, while extending Diamond Standard's reach to leading retail jewelers in the US," said David Kellie, CEO at NDC.
