Varanasi: The Varanasi police commissionerate busted an inter-state gang of child lifters with the arrest of ten of its members on Tuesday and rescued three children.
Additional commissioner of police Santosh Kumar Singh said that after an incident of the kidnapping of a child on May 14, the police teams were engaged to rescue the child and arrest the lifters. The child was kidnapped while he was sleeping with his parents at Ramchandra Shukla crossing in Ravindrapuri area on May 14 night.
The police arrested Manish Jain and Bhavar Lal of Rajasthan, Mahesh Rana, Mukesh Pandit, Mahesh, Sunita Devi, Yashoda Pandit of Jharkhand, Shikha Devi, Vinay Mishra, Santosh Kumar Gupta from Manduadih area.
Arrested members of the gang confessed that they used to target poor families for lifting their child and sell them in other states like Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Bihar with the help of mediators in their syndicate. They also divulged the details of many children lifted from different areas of Varanasi, Prayagraj and other places.
