NAGPUR: The Nagpur rural police on Tuesday arrested the 35-year-old daughter of Dilip Sontakke, a petrol pump owner at Bhiwapur, for allegedly giving a ₹5 lakh supari to get him murdered. Sontakke had died after three masked assailants stabbed him 15 times at his petrol pump on Nagpur-Nagbhid highway on May 17.
Cops said that Sontakke’s daughter, Priya Mahurtale, wanted him dead because he had been torturing her mother and the rest of the family for opposing his extramarital affair.

Priya was produced before the court which remanded her to police custody for two days.
It’s learnt, Priya’s husband Kishor too worked at his father-in-law’s petrol pump.
The assailants had also decamped with cash ₹1.34 lakh from the petrol pump. The cash was being counted by Sontakke and his employee Rajeshwar Nanhe, who too was injured while trying to protect his employer.
The three assailants, Sheikh Afroz alias Imran Hanif (33), Mohammad Wasim Lal Mohammad (21) and Zubair Khan (25), were caught within few hours of the murder. While Bhiwapur and Umrer police had nabbed Afroz and Wasim while fleeing into a forested area, city police had picked up Zubair from Nagpur.
Police said during interrogation, it came to fore that some time back Priya, who stays in Dighori, had got tiles fitted at her home. While the work was in progress, Sontakke had created ruckus in front of the masons, due to which Priya happened to tell them about her father, who stayed in the vicinity, torturing her mother, her sister and her as well, as per police.
Sontakke would also often threaten to transfer his properties in name of the other woman who was in Bhiwapur, said police.
It is learnt, one of the tile fitters knew Afroz, a small-time goon and recovery agent, and introduced him to Priya.
Police said Priya then promised Afroz ₹5 lakh to kill her father. Afroz roped in two of his accomplices, Zubair and Wasim, to execute the murder. The motive was to kill Sontakke and not rob the pump. But when the assailants were fleeing they picked up the cash too.
The cash and a cartridge have been recovered from the trio. The case was detected under the supervision of SP Vishal Anand and addl SP Sandeep Pakhale.
A police source stated that there could be another link between Priya and Afroz. “Police are trying to identify the person who had mediated the deal between Priya and Afroz,” the source said.
