Law student who accused CA of rape turns hostile
Vadodara: The 26-year-old law student who had filed a complaint of rape against 71-year-old chartered accountant Ashok Jain and Raju Bhatt in 2021, turned hostile during court trial.
The woman told the court that the original complaint was drafted by someone outside the police station in Gujarati and she didn’t understand the language.
“During her deposition in the additional sessions court on May 19, the woman said that her complaint was pertaining to the obscene photos which she had received on her WhatsApp. The girl also said that she had not made any accusation of rape against the accused duo,” said advocate Hitesh Gupta who is representing Jain and Bhatt in the court.
“The woman admitted that she knew Jain as she had undergone training at his firm and also that she met Bhatt only once. She also said that neither of the accused had visited her flat ever and she too didn’t go to any penthouse. She said that she didn’t find any camera fitted inside her house,” Gupta added.
In September 2021, the woman filed a complaint against Jain and Bhatt at the Gotri police station wherein she had alleged that Bhatt spiked her drink and molested her at his guesthouse. The complaint further said that he later visited her flat and raped her. After some days, Bhatt too visited her flat and raped her, the complaint said.
Her complaint also said that the accused had installed a camera in her house and that they were threatening to make her obscene photos viral. The accused duo was arrested by the police after some days and questioned about the sexual assault.
The accused had denied the allegations of rape. The cops filed a charge-sheet in December 2021 following which the trial began.
