Gumla cops to take Gope on remand
Gumla: Gumla police will take PLFI supremo Dinesh Gope on remand as there are at least 16 cases lodged against him in three different police stations, officials said on Tuesday. Gope was arrested by NIA from New Delhi on Sunday and was brought to Ranchi the same evening. On Monday, NIA took him into eight-day remand for questioning. Jharkhand police will apply for his remand after NIA’s remand term ends.
Gumla SP Ehtesham Waquarib said, “There are 16 cases against him in Gumla district. As many as 13 cases are alone in Kamdara police station, while two are in Basia police station and one in Gumla police station. The district police will take him on remand in connection with these cases." Most of the cases against Gope are that of murder, encounters with police, kidnapping and extortion, police said.
Redwa village under Kamdara police station was once the hotbed of PLFI during early years of its formation. Two of PLFI’s squad members later surrender before the police. tnn
