Corneal transplant surgery at Old Goa hosp

Panaji: A 34-year-old woman, suffering from chronic macular dystrophy, a genetic disorder which clouds the cornea progressively with age, successfully underwent a corneal transplant surgery in Old Goa, recently. The surgery on the patient’s right eye was conducted by Dr Ramaa Naik Raikar and Dr Rekha Gyanchand, at Healthway Hospital. The cornea for replacement was sourced from an eye bank. tnn
