Ludhiana: The regional transport authority (RTA) checked school buses under the safe school vahan scheme on Tuesday morning. A total of six buses have been impounded and three have been challaned. During checks at BCM Arya Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar and R S Model School, Shastri Nagar, documentation discrepancies, invalid passes and incomplete tax payments were found. The six buses impounded include two of BCM Arya School and four of R S Model School. Besides, three buses of R S Model School found to be violating the Motor Vehicles Act were also fined, said RTA Poonam Preet Kaur. During checking, four overloaded tippers were found and action was taken, she added. The RTA asked school owners to ensure safety of students and asked them to adhere to policies of safe school transportation and Motor Vehicles Act. She warned that action would be taken against any school found violating the safe school vehicle policy and rules under the Motor Vehicles Act.
