‘Reports of not accepting 2,000 notes baseless’
Thiruvananthapuram: The treasury department has termed the reports that it has decided not to accept Rs 2,000 notes as baseless. Though the notes cannot be exchanged, the notes can be given as deposits or towards the payment of challans, informed treasury department authorities.
There were reports that the finance department has given verbal orders not to accept the Rs 2,000 notes in the wake of the RBI's decision to withdraw the notes. The treasury department has informed that no such decision has been taken.
The KSRTC managing director has also informed that Rs 2,000 notes will be accepted in KSRTC buses. An order regarding this has been given to all district units. The MD has also informed that there will be strict action if there is any complaint that the notes are not being accepted on the buses.
