1 held for murder of 50-yr-old woman
Kanpur: Police claimed to have solved the murder of a 50-year-old woman, who was found dead with injury marks on head in the fields in Bilhaur area of the district on May 18 night.
The police have arrested a man identified as Santosh from the same village. Confessing to the crime, he said that he had attacked the woman with a stick after she accused him of plucking corn from her field and called him a thief.
To recall, a 50-year-old woman, who had gone to guard the maize crop in the fields on May 18 morning in Bilhaur police area of the district, was found murdered on the same night.
The victim’s son in the complaint had accused three village men of murder. “We started zeroing in on the activities of the suspects of the village, among whom Santosh was continuously found missing from his home. When we caught him on the intervening night May 20 and 21 and grilled him, he confessed to have killed the woman. He said that he killed her in a fit of rage because she accused him of stealing corn and called him a thief,” said inspector Bilhaur Surendra Singh.
