This meeting comes as part of Modi's three-day visit to Australia, which is the final leg of his tour after visiting Papua New Guinea. It is noteworthy that this is Prime Minister Modi's second visit to Australia during his tenure.
Upon his arrival in Sydney, Prime Minister Modi was greeted by Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O'Farrell and other officials.
In an interview with local media, Prime Minister Modi expressed his desire for stronger defense and security cooperation between India and Australia, particularly in light of China's increasing influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
Prior to Modi's arrival, Prime Minister Albanese released a statement expressing his honor in hosting Modi's official visit to Australia and referencing the warm reception he received during his visit to India earlier this year.
